L.B. Cowman's Streams In The Desert has been one of my favorite devotional books for a long time now. The author was a missionary in Japan and China from 1901-1917, and I so appreciate her perspective. I pick it up when I can read a page or two. Here is a quote from yesterday's reading:
"Our capacity for knowing God is enlarged when we are brought by Him into circumstances that cause us to exercise our faith. So when difficulties block our path, may we thank God that He is taking time to deal with us, and then may we lean heavily on him."
